As I’ve expressed in other posts, I’m stressing like crazy about where to find the money for my midwife. Tim is such a hard worker and manages to cover all of our bills, but there’s barely enough left over for groceries and gas, but less enough to save for the delivery. I went ahead and did this cyber-begging thing, which works with donations through a site called ‘wepay’ which works like paypal.
I deleted the link because my tax return will pay for it. I also deleted the post on the site anyways, to make sure no one donated.
So, you’re doing a home birth with a midwife, right? And your insurance covers 80% leaving you having to pay the 20% balance of 2k…does your midwife really charge 10 grand for a home birth? I’ve been hungry before. Only beans and milk is no fun. T & P are with you guys…
No, the insurance covers the rest. And it was for prenatal costs and delivery costs altogether. I think I may be getting numbers mixed up. My doctor had said that my insurance would only pay him 80%, and she said that the delivery and prenatal services with her would end up being around $8,000, I think it was. But she requests a $2,600 deposit. It should be reimbursed (I hope/think) by the insurance company, whatever is outside of my deductible, but I’d still need that $2,600 paid. I have the means for the $600–I was going to be refunded the money I had started paying my doctor toward a delivery with him–but I still need to find the other $2,000.
Holy mole! My midwife is charging me $3400 for the global package…thank God it’s not 8k. I have no health insurance so everything is out-of-pocket…
I don’t know if the price would be different if I didn’t have insurance. Either way, that’s how much I’m desperately trying to scrounge up.
You should try contacting some catholic charities – they are very big on helping pregnant women….
My taxes should cover it!!! I forgot that I was getting more because I took in my little brother last year, so I had a dependent to claim!
Do you have Medicaid?
Oh! I’m so glad to hear that you’ve got it covered! Have you gotten any help with food? No, we make too much to get free or reduced cost health insurance. Which is funny because we don’t make a whole lot of money. My husband works 2 jobs. He would have to quit one of them for us to qualify. Silly, huh.
No to food yet, but I’ve done everything for food stamps and now I just wait for either my food stamp card, or for the letter denying them. I’m going to be soooo angry if we don’t get them though. I have no idea what to do to get them, otherwise! And yeah, that’s ridiculous. DHS did that to me last year just because I was waitressing once a week on top of my job–which didn’t pay very much. I thought it was soooo stupid.
